  FLAT RATE FAQ
The FAQ Is Split Into Two Pages - One for Flat Rate Questions and One For All Other Questions

Mail Forwarding, Maildrops, Remailing Services

Make sure you also read the General FAQ as most of it applies to flat rate subscriptions

What is a flat rate subscription ?

Every other maildrop company we have looked at has a fee structure based on a combination of an annual fee, a fee per item and postage per item. We also provide this fee structure.

We also have a simple single payment fee structure for low volume users.  This is based on purchasing a fixed number of units. Each unit can be used for forwarding or remailing letters within a 12 month period.  The single fee includes all postage and processing fees.  All flat rate mail is sent by priority Airmail.

Tell me more about your Flat Rates.

Suppose you subscribe to the 25 unit subscription - Your subscription ends12 months later or when you have used your 25 units for forwarding or remailing - whichever comes first.

You cannot carry unused units through to your next subscription period.

Explain Flat Rate units in detail.

One Flat Rate unit can used for any one of the following:

bullet

Remailing one single letter by airmail - Maximum of 100 Grams.

bullet

Forwarding one letter to you by airmail - Maximum of 100 Grams.

bullet

Forwarding up to 100 Grams of letters to you by airmail in a single covering envelope.

NOTE: 100 grams is equivalent to between 4 and 7 standard letters.

Examples: 25 Flat Rate units entitle you to one the following in a 12 month period . . .

bullet

Remailing 8 letters for you and forwarding 17 times to you (up to 100 grams each time)

bullet

Remailing 4 letters for you and forwarding 21 times to you (up to 100 grams each time)

bullet

Remailing 6 letters for you and forwarding 19 times to you (up to 100 grams each time)

bullet

Remailing 0 letters for you and forwarding 25 times to you (up to 100 grams each time)

bullet

Remailing 25 letters for you and forwarding 0 times to you

Do you allow delayed subscriptions ?

Yes, we allow delayed subscriptions up to about a month (Flat-rate or Standard). This facility can be useful in a business start-up situation where the you need your new Irish address in advance, for printing, advertising etc.

In a personal situation you could use this facility before you go on a long trip, to let people know in advance where you can be contacted after a certain future date.

Payment in advance is required    -   Your subscription starts when your first letter arrive

Can I move from one flat rate subscription to another ?

No. Suppose you have chosen the 12 unit subscription and you use it up after 8 months. You cannot then pay the difference between the 12 unit and the 25 unit subscription - you must buy a new subscription.

What's different if I'm based in Ireland ?

bullet

If we are forwarding your mail to your main Irish address by post there is no difference.

bullet

If you have a flat rate account we will apply charges as normal for mail forwarding.  We don't charge you flat rate units for occasional pick-ups, but we do if they are regular.  We also charge for long term storage.

bullet

A flat rate account is not suitable where you only collect your mail.

Can I have packages forwarded and remailed on a flat rate subscription ?

Yes.  However, because of the extra postage, packaging etc, packages count as multiple units, depending on their weight.  These are detailed in the table below ...
Flat rate subscriptions are not really suitable for sending or receiving a lot of parcels.  Flat rate subscriptions are not suitable for sending or receiving packages exceeding one Kilogram or for courier services.  It is best to use one of our standard packages in these cases.

Weight Range Number of Units
Up to 100 Grams 1 UNIT
101 - 250 Grams 2 UNITS
251 - 500 Grams 4 UNITS
501 - 1000 Grams 8 UNITS
Above 1 Kilogram Not suitable for Flat Rate

Can flat rate subscriptions be used for scanning/email services ?

Yes - but not for large quantities.  Please contact us in advance and let us know roughly how many pages a month you expect.  At present our turnaround between receiving mail and scanning/emailing is about one week.

How come flat rate fees are the same worldwide ?

Our flat rate fees are designed to be simple.  We just average out the costs.  Our flat rate subscribers in Asia get better value than our UK subscribers.  Flat rate subscriptions are very popular and account for about 70% of all subscriptions.

Don't forget, you can have 100 grams of letters (up to seven standard letters)

forwarded at the same time for one flat rate unit.
