SUBSCRIBING TO SKY USING YOUR IRISH ADDRESS
You will receive RTE1 + NET2 + TV3 + TG4 when
you subscribe to any of the lesser Irish Sky packages. Note: Many GAA matches on RTE are blocked. You will also receive BBC1 + BBC2 (NI). You will not receive UTV Ch4 Ch5. You can receive BBC3, BBC4, BBC-N24, CBBC and Cbeebies via "Extra Channels" in your digibox. |
This will only work for digiboxes that are out of contract (i.e. connected for at least 12 months) |
INSTRUCTIONS:
Subscribe to one of our mail services. If you will be using your
Irish address for nothing other than Sky then the Flat-05 subscription (€50) should be all you need. |
We will send you a blank Irish Sky subscription form on request. (This is not the same as a UK subscription form) |
Fill it in with your details including your
credit card number. Put it in an envelope and seal it. Address it to Sky as if you were sending it from Ireland. (Do not put stamps on this envelope) |
Put the above envelope inside another one and
post it to Irish Office at our Dublin 1 address. Make sure that you enclose a note so we know who you are. |
When we receive your letter we will open it.
We will not open the inner envelope which you have addressed to Sky. We will put postage on this envelope and post it for you. |
When Sky send the card to you at your Irish address we will forward it on to you at your UK / European address. |
When you receive your card you get it
activated by phoning Sky and getting it manually activated. Just tell the operator the that you have an out-of-contract digibox and is not connected to a phone line. |
If they ask who installed your system say it was a DIY installation or was fitted by an independent installer. |
Remember, when you call Sky you are supposed
to be calling from Dublin. Have all the following information at hand when you do call => Name + Irish Address + Sky card number + any Irish phone number except ours (01-nnnnnnn ; N.B. keep a note of this number for the future) + Your Digibox Serial Number (Press Services + 4 + 5 for this info) |
When you call Sky, make sure that your Number
ID is hidden on the phone you are calling from. This is easily blocked (We don't know the UK code - could someone let us know). You can test it by calling a mobile number and seeing if your number appears. |
Sky may ask you set up a password for
future identification. Have one ready. You can also use this phone call to set up your parential password. |
You should have your Irish Channels within an hour! |
When your Sky magazines arrive here we will bin them unless you instruct us to do otherwise. |
All the above will use three of your five flat rate units. |
If you follow the above everything should work just fine, However . . . . . .
THE SKY ELEMENT OF IRISH OFFICE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEES !
We are not a satellite company - we are a mail forwarding company
Is this legal ? We firmly believe that you are doing absolutely nothing illegal by undertaking the above. There is no piracy involved - you are paying for your subscription. However you are infringing some Sky regulations and copyright rules. Most Irish people living in the UK would be quite happy to pay for access to Irish television. Since Tara television was closed down by RTE, Irish people in the UK have had no option for viewing Irish TV.
