  Translation Page

To all potential translators

The text below the blue line (706 words) is the text we want translated into your native language.  Texts above the blue line are comments and instructions for translators and are not to be translated.

If there is no flag for your country/language on our home page then no translation has been done for that language and we would very much like someone to do it. (French and Serbian have been completed and will be up soon)

If you would like to do a translation for us, send an email to: office@irishoffice.com   Please tell us about your skills and how long you estimate the translation will take. A nicely formatted html document would be nice but it is not a requirement - good translation is!  Don't forget to tell us what free services you would like us to provide for your translation skills and effort.

Some rules and requirements . . . . .

bullet Your English skills should be good enough, that you understand everything on this page.
bullet You should be a native speaker or very fluent in the language you are going translate to.
bullet Absolutely no translation programs to be used.
bullet Preview your text when we have put it up on our website.  Make sure that all special characters are showing correctly on your browser.

Other things we would like you to do . . . . .

bullet Have another native speaker proof-read your final work.
bullet Submit your translation in HTML  - (RTF or DOC or TXT will also do).
bullet Suggest some language specific search engines for your translated page.
bullet We will most likely need help with the charset meta-tag and the content-language
meta-tag.  Don't worry if you cannot help with this - your translation skills are what is important.  In fact all you have to do to help us here, is to give us the location any properly designed web page in your language.

General Points . . . . .

bullet Please let us know if the terms Flat Rate = Maildrop =  Mail Forwarding = Remailing
do not translate well into your language.
bullet The word [Language] below should be changed to the name of your language.
Examples: Greek, French, Swedish, Dutch, Italian, Urdu, Greek etc.
bullet Cheque / Check are European / US spelling variations.
bullet Leave the blue underlined links in English as they are. Put a translation in brackets after them (if you think it is appropriate).
bullet Don't worry too much about formatting.  You can use > or # characters for bullets
if you wish.
bullet If you want to clarify something and add any additional text based on the rest of our site, feel free to do so.  Just tell us what you did.
bullet We will also need a translation of the title, description and keywords for insertion directly into the html. This is for search engines. They are listed on the table just below the blue line. (You do not have to retain the table structure).

Remailing

Our remailing service allows you to have your outgoing mail posted from Ireland without you having to be here. To use this service . . . . . .

Prepare your mail as normal. Make sure it is fully addressed and includes
the destination country in western script.

Place this mail in a covering envelope.

bullet

Make sure that you have included your Irish Office membership number somewhere.
on the covering envelope (otherwise we will not know who we are remailing for).

Post the covering envelope to Irish Office at our Dublin 1 address.

When we receive your covering envelope we will open it and place local postage on the enclosed mail and post it for you. We will email you indicating the number of items we have remailed for you.
